The Real Climate Scandal

Only in the twisted world of global warming denialists could the victims of an e-mail hacker be the bad guys. Hacking private e=mails is a crime which should never be tolerated. The very notion that it should be acceptable to hack e=mails shows just how intolerant many denialists are. However, what people have been talking about is that the hacked e-mails supposedly prove that the scientists who are warning about global warming have been lying. This raises a question; how honest are global warming denialists?

Part of the answer may be found by following the link to a Youtube video about a documentary which was well named, though not for the reasons the documentaries makers would like us to believe. “The Great Global Warming Swindle” was well named because the documentary itself is is a swindle. You can see how this documentary misleads people by watching the video on the following link:

1. The lie: The first edition of the documentary claimed that volcanoes produce more CO2 than human. – The truth: According to the U.S. Geological survey humans produce 130* more CO2 than volcanoes.

2. The lie: The documentary shows a graph showing most 20th Century global warming occured before 1940. – The truth: The real NASA graph shows majority of the 20th Century warming occured after 1970 and the graph presented in the documentary has been traced to a fake scientific paper by produced by the Oregon Institute

3. The lie: The graph showing Medieval Warm Period warmer than “Now” is 20 years old – The truth:data since then has come off the top

4. The lie: Holocene Maximum suposedly due to an unknown process supposedly happening today. – The truth:actually due to known orbital factors which cannot be responsible for warming over past 100 years

5. John Christie claimed that lack of dramatic tropospheric warming contrdicts models. – Dr. Christie’s work was found to be in error and later work has identified and corrected errors.

6. Dr. Carl Wunsch explained that warming ocean could be dangerous because it is a gigantic reservior of carbon. – film implied the opposite, that large quantities of carbon in oceans means human influence must not be important.

7. The lie: The graph in which the documentary shows corelation of global temperature with solar activity stops at 1980. – The truth: After 1980, the global temperature increased dramatically while solar activity decreased.

In watching the Youtube video, it is easy to tell that global warming denialists are very capable of dishonesty.

Sadly, it is so difficult to find the ‘truth’, as it seems to depend on who you talk to what the truth really is. I’d be interested to see what sources you used to debunk the video. :-) Write on!
